Message from Ambassador I welcome you to the official website of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh to the Kingdom of Belgium and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and Mission to the European Union in Brussels. Diplomatic relations between Bangladesh and Belgium, and Bangladesh and Luxembourg were established in 1972, and between Bangladesh and the European Union in 1973. The objective of the Embassy is to further consolidate and promote Bangladesh’s relations with Belgium, Luxembourg and the European Union. Accordingly, the Embassy works closely with them to promote meaningful collaboration in all facets of the relationship, including trade and investment, economic development, health, education, security, cultural exchange and people-to-people contact. On the basis of shared values, Bangladesh’s partnership with the European Union is progressively gathering a political and strategic dimension. Bangladesh and the EU share common views on many global issues including international peace and security, counter-terrorism, climate change, sustainable development, migration, strengthening of democratic institutions and practices, expansion of regional cooperation and women empowerment. Bangladesh’s ensuing graduation from the least developed countries category and its socio-economic progresses can indeed be seen as a success story amongst the EU’s long-standing partnerships. In our scheme of things, the Bangladesh community in Belgium and Luxembourg are our key partners. They are the ones who have been building bridges on the ground and brightening the image of our country. The Embassy appreciates its close and cordial relationship with the fellow Bangladesh nationals and members of its community and assures them of full support of the Embassy in every possible way.
